In Maryland, they didnt ask for any document when I took my about to be expired DL to the MVA (Motor vehicles Admin) last year. The guy said as long as you have $30, we would renew your expired license!
However, getting a new DL for my wife was a nightmare. We had to schedule an
appointment through a phone line which worked only two or three days in a month! After many tries, we gave up!

I know a EB2 India application (obviously not mine) that was approved after this July fiasco and no where I could find his PD date current in those previous months (except July where everyone was current). After this guy got his GC, I am convinced there is no "system" in place. It is all random and you can't really predict anything. :mad:

msgs like this help establish the notion that this is an indian website dedicated to indian immigration issues. I didnt see any post wishing happy Eid/ Eid Mubarak nor did I notice last year that anyone wished a Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays, nor do we wish our Chinese friends a Happy Chinese New Year.
The people who wants to be a part of American Society should first definately be a very open minded towards all cultures and social trends.
Other thing to be Indian or representing Indian traditions is not a crime but certainly every time barking against anything Indian may certainly be a crime as it is a clear indication of closed door or prejudicial mind towards one particular country and culture. Americans do not mind if one shows that he is Indian now and want to become in American future. Although they prefer that AND that is why they label Jindal as Indian-American although he born in USA. If there are majority Indians on IV board, it is not a crime but it is obvious. Some of my chienese friends on IV board may start thread for wishing chienese festival, I bet most Indians on this board will welcome and same goes with Muslim friends on IV board. Starting and wishing EID MUBARAK thread (By the way that is also a Indian tradition..And I am proud of that too) is not a crime and by now if nobody started it does not mean other people may not welcome it. If you are a Muslim, start the thread for EID Mubarak, I will be the first to welcome that step. You want to be American,, right? Which service center? Guys, is this the normal trend? I guess the processing times webpage is showing ~ 3 months.
It looks like not many people are applying for AP renewals, this is simply my observation based on traffic on this topic in IV.

don't worry, the republican minority in the house has no power whatsoever. A simple majority(50% + 1) is what it takes to pass a bill in the house and the Dems have more than a simple majority.

Whether your application reached USCIS on july 2 or July 10, it will get rejected bacause the notifictaion issued by USCIS says that any application recd from July2 onwards will be rejected. If they had any intention of accepting july2 applications then, they would have made July 3 as the effective date.

You have to remember that Schedule A is a one time 50K cap. DOS mentioned that the category will be eliminated from VB soon. They expect to hit the 50K cap by the end of this month and thats why they will not accept any more new applications from then. So who ever were able to sneak in under that category, will get their GC. There will not be a Schedule A category unless congress approves again.

Allow I-485 filing and/or obtaining EAD,AP benefits when I-140 is approved irrespective of priority date being current. This will help many of us who missed the July 07 boat.
After listening to his crystal cut views about fixing broken immigration system, my confidence level is boosted and felt like Dr.Obama has guts to deal this challenging CIR initiative for the better future of immigrants and for families of all of those hardworking smart legal immigrants who have been waiting for approvals from past 10 years. Hope it's not alluring speech for his upcoming elections. Problem clearly persists with politicians who don't like our EB VISA applicant community.
I think these following things should be the high priority items for IV core team and to all of us. People who have been patiently waiting to file for 485 since JULY 2007 are loosing hopes based on ongoing immigration trends. I think that it would take at least another 2 or 3 years to pass the CIR and to see it's law in action if GOP fellas have guts and to let this pass it successfully. I think that we should focus on two things to minimize the damage to our personal and professional lives.
I think one quick solution for fixing the issue of century old broken immigration system of USCIS is by allowing disciplined and long waited legal immigrant applicant to file for 485 application once his/her (I-140) application is approved. (Technically, I-140 is the real application for employment based green card. It makes sense for allowing applicant to file for AOS application (I-485 for personal information). this is justifiable with the current USCIS practice as USCIS doesn't approve his/her green card even if his/her PD ( Priority Date) is current unless they have visas to allocate for the case, so it should make prefect sense for 140 approved applicants to allow them to file for I-485)
Another thing is about huge EB backlogs for this broken system , that can be fixed temporarily by supporting and passing the recapture bill which allocates visas of those unused and wasted around 400K immigrant visas of last several years..

I think that is enough transparency. There will be more when they file tax returns.

I would let my application rot in USCIS hell than not applying. Regardless of what AILA says, I believe the verdict is going to be for all who is affected.
