You are correct. The rules must have changed recently. I wonder what made them make that change, Now children of US citizens (who were once Indian citizens) have an advantage over children who has both parents as Indian citizens. Weird.. isn't it?

I think you can put a date atleast starting from when you are expected to receive the receipt notice. Once you have the notice, you could go to local USCIS office, show the receite and prove your emergent situation and request for immediate AP.

The OP wanted an advise, so please give one , constructively. As far as consequences for anyone's actions they will suffer from it. There will be no escape whether in this issue or in any other issue in life.
I have noticed many posts in the recent past wherein the forum discussions degrade to personal battles real quick. The persons involved feel the need to respond to an irky post by upping the ante. Stop this game of one upmanship....

Isnt the goal of Education to make a person a better person, morally and otherwise? Is this what your education got you to? All of your Education (I am assuming you have four MS degrees, two PHd, as you have twice mine, and about 300K salary) is a total waste, if you stick up your head to support someone who does shop-lifting and have no qualms about it ( i have definitely not seen any statement to that effect from the OP, just seeking "immigration" advise). I can only think of a myriad number of reasons why you want to support this guy..maybe you yourself might have sticky hands my friend? Or maybe you are the same guy posting with two IDs and supporting your shop-lifting by such BS? I have no idea and am not interested either.
Try browsing the anti-immigrant nut websites and try answering their type-casting immigrants by the acts of few, and then you will understand what i am talking about. Till, then, probably, you can take all of your fancy-a** education, fat salary and shove it up!

I have citizenship already. I am just waiting for GC:)
My parents are getting old. I am going back in 3 years. Heard from friends, earn enough and go. There will never be enough.
Almost, all of us started here from Nothing. Now we have atleast something to start with. Yes there is always things for Pros and Cons.
I am not worried about GC. Waiting for a good opportunity to jump back to India.
It will be really nice if I can get work from home job from US and settle down in a hill side with nice estate in India. :cool:

Your intentions are good - but the approach you took needs to be refined further. None of what I wrote above is personally against you - I appreciate your efforts but feel that we need to approach it differently - probably equating updates with money is not a good approach given that once someone gives money , they may start having a feeling of entitlement and we may not be ready to handle it.

Without a doubt, the poll I have posted is clearly focused on a single dimension i.e. whether receiving more regular updates will help people get more involved and contribute more (whatever be that amount, it would be in addition to current status). While there could be several other ideas to increase participation level, this is what I felt was important to me and was looking to gauge if others felt similalry. However, I clearly don't have a patent on ideas - if you have a different approach or idea I would assume you wouldn't hesitate to pursue that to achieve our goals.
As far as as the notion that someone who gives money feels entitled to receive information - so, what's wrong with that? After all no one gives without any expectations and based on this poll, there are at least some of us for whom being informed along the process is one of those expectations, especially since none of our goals will be achieved overnight. Remember in life you have to have an attitude of respecting others, if u think you need to be treated specially cause you have lived in America 10yrs then u would be definitely disappointed. A lot of my friends have relocated to India and I am too early next year. The only answer is attitude.
But there are cases where you expect to be treated like a human , and you are not. That is the most difficult thing for some who returned and regret doing so.
And it is a bigger dream (than dream about getting GC) to expect people to leave en masse .

In reality, the app was just taken up for processing - the IO figured that FP has not yet been done and sent notice and during the course of processing the app, decided to send it for interview.
Perhaps u r right. Lawyer might have just made up that story to get him off his back. The guy was pretty annoyed at not getting FP notice. He went for infopass twice and all they did was sent a FP request to CIS (told him they were doing that) but nothing happened.

IV currently has around 950 registered members. If every member were to contribute $100 each, we should have close to 100K today. We think that is a very realistic picture. In fact we were banking on that kind of support when we started this effort. We are not even close to that number.
Guys, the core team of IV have really slogged to reach a point where our voices are being heard. By not contributing, please don't do a dis-service to yourselves and all others involved.
This is an appeal to all the members that haven't contributed yet, PLEASE CONTRIBUTE AT LEAST $100. Most of EB workers have decent jobs and enjoy a decent lifestyle. $100 is not too much to ask, for what is at stake right now. Given the number of people affected, one would think acheiving the contribution target is a piece of cake. PLEASE STEP UP NOW!!
We are relying on this support to move forward. There may not be any other chance for your issues to be heard at the level we are trying.

Why do you think Diwali is only for Indians ? It has been recognized by US as a national festival just last week. It okay to deviate from norm sometimes. We will make sure there are wishes given for each festival. Festivals are meant to showcase culture and bring people together.
