Finally, I understood the purpose of this forum. No, the title is not wrong.
I understand that you are
1. explaining retrogression, and
2. predicting time it will take a person to get GC.
The above are based on
1. applications with USCIS, and
2. USCIS policy to approve GC.
If this is true, it is the first good idea I have seen here. Alisa for president! (Arnold, California Gov, is working on changing rules for naturalized citizens).
I have the following suggestions. I will help after I read everything. Give me some time.

How exactly are illegals going to prove that they have been here for more than 5 years?
I think this is a good one. It supports legal immigrants.
I dont agreee with this dvb guy. 5 years legally is lots of time. And I now know people who are 10-15 years here. He will want to say the same tthing even in that case. Instead learn to rationalize and make sure if one thinks one is eligivle, then see how one can get included.crab behavior, the one at bottom pulls down the one thats climbing up. Finally both end at dinner table.

one of the reason I would like Core Team to consider sending email about the Advocacy Day.... that email will get more inactive member like Chandu who got greened and has no good reason (nothing wrong abt it...most of us do the same) to continue visiting IV. Please consider sending one email on Feb and March.
If someone gets out because of this email I am sure he/she is not going to work on any IV activities even if IV never sent any email. Those members join IV just for some free advice and nothing else.
Pappu & StarRun consider this request and let us know where we stand on this. I had collected some content from this forum for flyers ( decided not to pursue further after discussion and advice from StarRun).
On side note, I agree with Chandu regarding convincing our spouse on these kind of expense and participation is really tough a job. We have bought up by teaching/preaching any activities other than studying (for grownups working) is not worth it.
I agree with you. I thought about it and decided to come to DC. I was greened last year and definitely IV was a very big factor in my GC journey. I have not been logging onto IV for a while as I have been very busy with my personal life, and job tensions, kid etc.. and all sorts of other things.
After GC, your life usually changes only if you want it to change. I am still in the process of understanding how best to change. As of now, nothing changed - not even my job :).
I am surprised that people still do not want to help themselves. I see everyone looking at the visa bulletin and getting frustrated, but why do people n ot take the extra step?, I really don't understand. I urge members to come forward and help yourselves. - Please.

Whilst in general a name change does sound like a good idea, we have spent a lot of time and money making sure that Immigration Voice as an organization is known.
It makes no sense to through that away

One thing we can do immediately is to add the words " An organisation of Legal Immigrants" or something to that effect under the globe which says immigration voice on it on the top left corner of the web page. This will immediately make know of our status to those who visit us..Just my 25 cents...;)

Thank you for putting a link to my long post in your signature. I had forgotten about it. I tried to sum up my thoughts and tried to answer some EB3 I folks who fail to see the problems and solutions. They only see things from their narrow lens and have no idea of the realities. Some of them refuse to listen to us. But if a lawyer on some website tell them the same thing, they would not only listen to that lawyer but also praise the lawyer. I came across one member who even put a picture on his website because he may have felt that this lawyer is his savior to lobby congress for his green card dream. :) But he refused to listen to us and see reason. This only shows our community fails to believe in themselves and what they can do together. We will continue to live a life of suffering, waiting and tracking greencard, predicting visa bulletins and writing posts on the forums. This is the sad reality. I hope others who whine on the forums read that post and it prods them to wake up and do something about their 'depression'. Once you wake up and decide to do something, then contact IV. We will help you.

Certainty is releated to belief not reality. It still means the name check was not completed. The law does not say they "when you are certain that the FBI name check can be cleared..please allot a visa."
Nowhere in that statement he says anything about the name check. It might be just the expired biometrics. And coming from some anonymous immigration officials how can you be sure that the information is absolutely credible or represents the facts and not their speculations? Were those applications really approved or they've just requested the visa numbers for them?

But do we have:
- A leader to lead this effort
- Agenda to follow
- Specific Goals
- Action Items
- Immediate Goals
Without these we are not going anywhere. But just wasting our time on top of our already surmounting frustration.

- Agenda to follow : Everyone has one. But the single common agenda is to blame IV for EB3 dates not moving forward.

Your first paragraph is wrong. If you are not working, then you are out of status. Regardless of whether your employer formally terminated employment and formally cancelled your H1B. Out of status means staying in USA legally, but not doing what you are supposed to be doing. If you dont attend classes and go to college when on student visa, you are out of status even though you are legally present.

I was the first person in the QnA - disappointed at the intent of this meeting - they really care about illegal immigration - not once legal immigrants were discussed. It was a farce and IV was just used as an organization to show support to him - very disappointed.:mad:

I was at the meeting and I was really taken aback by your question, it was totally out of context, I think I understand your position which is 'You wanted GC - you are not getting it - you decide to go back - but before that you decide to attend school - but cant get F1 coz you extablizhed Intent to Immigrate' -- This is a unique situation... atleast not something the larger IV community is affected by, but the accusing tone of your question to the Rep. was uncalled for .. I dont even know what you expected out of this meeting for your situation .. just try to get some perspective and place things incontext.. and again numbers matter.. if there were thousands of ppl in your situation your problem would have been addressed... anyways.. I beg to differ on your opinion about it being a farce.. There is effort being put to address the issues and IV has to maintain presence and make sure our issues are out there and are being noticed and not forgotten.. and thats what precisely happened yesterday.. IV members who are affected by Retrogression made their presence felt, the Core members were present on the dias rubbing shoulders with Congressman Gutierrez and representing the retrogressed community.
Your issue.. my friend .. unfortunately is not on the mandate of IV or the congressman..no doubt you were disappointed.. but good luck with you efforts and struggle.

Yes as long as you have an approved I-140 you can continue to extend H1B beyond 6 years.
The issue is not the extensions, but changing the job when you are on one of these extensions. This issue has been raised numerous times in the forums but so far things are still very murky, esp pertaining to the following:
1. What happens to your H1B status after you change your job, and then your previous employer revokes your I-140. ( To subsitute labor for someone else or simply as a matter of corporate proceudre)
2. Is your H1B status depend on the I-140 on which the extension is granted ?
So far these questions aren't answered clearly by lawyers or USCIS or folks in these forums. I hope it gets clarfied soon, becasue implications of the above cases could be as far reaching as being "out of status".

My lawyer also submitted my 485 without the employer's letter. She maintained that since I currently work for the petitioning employer, it is not required. She only submitted my pay advice.
