Are they given a formal training by apple? Even if they are, every approvers view will be slightly different.....perhaps this app was one that should have been approved from the start but was rejected by an approver who likes to abuse power?
This makes me wonder...and I apologize if this info is out there somewhere that I haven't seen yet....but do we know exactly what process Apple uses to approve apps? How many people see/try/evaluate the app during the approval process? The way it sounds it's as though there's a ton of apps in a large queue and an intern grabs one, tries it, thinks "this looks good" or "this can't pass", puts a stamp on it and goes to the next.

The .mac mail has been an embarrassment to Apple for some time. Ugly as sin and very limited. Strange, but Comcast updated their webmail interface this week also. The one feature I wish that Apple would add (unless I've missed it) is a button for "report as spam." I get more spam from my .mac account than from my Comcast account; with Comcast, you can report it and have the sender blocked.

According to IDC’s report, the growth puts Apple’s market share at 5.8 percent (fourth place overall), ahead of Toshiba at 4.2 percent. Dell topped the U.S. market with 31 percent, but suffered a negative growth rate of -6.7 percent. The top 5 is rounded out by HP with a 22 percent share and Gateway with a 6 percent share.
Apple's 5.8% marketshare would be far higher if it wasn't for the corporate bulk-buying of PCs for business; plus all the end of line, bargain-basement PCs that may figure in any such report.

Or how about the lack of pictures? This had photo op written all over it, but we the taxpayer only get one picture? I think the number of pictures were limited due to Steve Jobs current condition.

With regard to booting:
I think a lot of people in here are also looking over the fact that the card reader is on the USB bus. Meaning the speeds you'd be limited to would be that of USB 2.0. Internal 5400rpm boot drive would still be faster.
I believe its part of the ethernet controller chip.

I've never had any issues with the latest updates, so I don't really care with 10.4.8...but I wish Safari could be less memory-hungry, or use less virtual memory...that's all.Me too. And I wish Safari had a "Sure you want to quit?" dialog box for those times when we accidentally do a Command + Q in the dark when we thought we were doing a switch application Command + Tab.
Glad to hear it's in Leopard. But having to wait for an entirely new system version to get a little helpful dialog box in one little application seems like an expensive unnecessary delay.

Of course they are less expensive. No packaging, no media, no store space, no shipping required.
They should be less expensive.
If they were the same price this would be a serious problem. I still have a problem at the outrageous prices of CDs and DVDs because they are more expnsive than cassettes were, but cheaper to produce. It is all about greed and $$.
Apple wants to make money too. but they eliminated some considerable costs.

Easiest way is purchase a QuickTime Pro License, then all you have to do is control-click on the window, and it will give you a 'Save as QuickTime Movie'. Or, without QT Pro, you can still save it the movie using a more complicated method as outlined on macosxhints: http://tinyurl.com/dsmsl

Aren't there a half dozen or so other websites that sell/do the exact same thing as this kid? As well as likely hundreds of eBay sellers?
So, what I missing here? Why all the scrutiny for this kid?
Plus, his website clearly says they're non-OEM parts. So I really don't get all the negative hooplah here.

Not a good move. I travel around the us and for rural (Ennis, TX 2G or none) or too many users , not enough bandwidth areas (south beach, Miami ) this would be a disaster. I'll stick with my navigon. Not to mention overseas when you shut off your DATA access to not get billed $1000 for data usage. MTS

Hopefully 1700mhz band is a hidden feature in iPhone 4, supposedly the hardware in the other iPhones cannot be made compatible with it.
I don't know why people on this board would be negative about the idea of ANY additional carrier getting the iPhone. Yes, I agree that no single carrier could have handled the data demands of the iPhone, thats why everyone will get the best possible experience if the iPhone is available on as many carriers as possible.
And speaking for T-Mobile, I think that major publications have rated them to have a perfectly fine network in most metropolitan areas, sometimes even the best single carrier in a particular region.
And their plans are appreciably cheaper than AT&T. Best of all, they offer plans without a contract and without a phone subsidy where they pass on the savings to you. In other words, BYO phone, and you can get unlimited data, unlimited texting, and 500 anytime minutes for $60/month. Equivalent plan from AT&T is $85/month with 2GB a data.
Even assuming T-mob cuts data allowance to 2GB, thats still a good deal compared to AT&T. I'd love to be able to shop aggressively for an iPhone, and then save ~$300+ year on the subscription rates.
More competition can't be bad for the consumer.

I believe both the current versions of Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro can edit 3D.

The current FCS can edit 3D with the Dashwood stereo 3d toolkit plugin!

Why can't they just make a JACK connector, with 4 wires ... Wake me up when it will be possible to supply data at high speed and enough power through 4 cables with a jack connector.

I once sat on a plane next to an intellectual property lawyer who was commuting to NYC for work from Rochester. As it turned out he had once worked for EK and was now working in the city.
When I conveyed my surprised over how strange it was that Eastman Kodak was lagging behind in digital imaging and still focused on film considering they were responsible for much of the technology behind digital imaging, he basically inferred that EK's leadership mismanaged their patent goldmine.
i bet they had people there with MBA's from good schools running financial what if's and telling management to avoid digital because they will make less money due to not selling the film or anything other than the camera
