LTTE is almost obliterated. Hope, from now on people will not be crude to mask the SL Tamil issue relating with the LTTE.
Whether LTTE is a freedom movement or a terrorist organization, they were the saviors of the SL Tamils, now SL govt has got the free hand to annihilate entire Tamils from Sri Lanka. I don't think even god can save SL Tamils from tyranny and potential modern day holocaust.
How long can any organization survive without the support or backing from any major country? and for the LTTE, it is even worse as there is no land border to escape and fighting an enemy with the ratio of more than 1:20 and who got unlimited supply of arms. It happened to me and my roommate within one month of landing. I didn't knew driving nor did my roommate and 2 amway jokers (from same company where i worked) came and took as to the meeting under the pretext of showing us places in US. Once I reached to their meeting place in some hotel, I thought it must be genuine/good business because hotel (I think it was Marriott) was so good (first time to hotel outside india ). Then the presentation started and I could see only Indians, soon after presentation was over other jokers started approaching as but they could hardly speak English, this raised alarm and my roommate said to me how can such people do business when they cannot speak also and we noticed lots of people from one particular part of India. After this we decided to leave but it was hard ...because we had no car and it was very cold outside (8pm) and joker tried to force us to sign the membership else ....indirectly meant you go home alone.... but we didn't sign told him that we will do it latter and since he was from our office he had to drop us back home but after looong--looong wait.
I want some Amway Joker to say that they don't do this kind of cheap and dirty things...... if you make so much money then why bother others.

At some point I will have to decide whether to begin the H1b renewal process again.

I find it abominable that there are still some humans(?) left in this century who want special benefits based on their race and country-of-origin in this 21st century !

DOS allocates GC numbers to USCIS adjustment cases only as the point of approval is reached. DOS can set/move/retrogress PD based on info provided by USCIS about number of cases at point of approval.
USCIS is not able to provide a good estimate of this number because
it can not calculate this number based on USCISs workload, and
it does not know the number of cases DOL will send to them. DOL again can not calculate the number of cases (it will send to USCIS) based on DOLs worload.

For FY2010 there are very less GC applications filed by ROW & EB1 due to bad economy. If USCIS waits till last quarter then they wont have much visa usage during previous quarters. So it makes sense for USCIS to allocate spill over numbers on a per quarter basis. We never know how it works

I agree but complete removal of county quota is almost impossible ...diversity is just a name !!! US political system in super advanced in many ways(US contitution was written centuries ago and is much better than Indian ..remember the foreigner becoming PM issue and multi party mess that India has) ..my guess would be that country quota limits were introduced to prevent one country nationals from becoming a eventual majority . ofcourse the migration from south Am is another issue)

my answer ... show that we (legal immigrants) are unable to buy a house because of GC delays ..we can have something as simple as sitting in our homes, calling the local realtors , show interest in buying a house (or another house if you are already a home owner) ..then back off after few days saying that GC delay is preventing you from going ahead. who knows we may soon have lawrence yun lobbying for faster immi !!

Yes... at the time of application the H1B should be valid for at least 1 year.... I got my papers returned to me coz of this. I reapplied once I renewd my H1 for 3 more yrs
